Kinds of Lessons and Classes Offered
Private Lessons are given weekly in typically 30 minute sessions. 60 minute sessions are available, please consult with the teacher.
Studio Performance and Musicianship classes may be offered periodically. Class fees are in addition to regular lesson tuition.
Student Responsibilities
Prompt attendance at lessons is essential! Every effort is made in the studio to stay on schedule and ensure that each student received full lesson time. Students should be prepared with all music books, theory, and other assignments needed for the lesson. Theory assignments are to be completed BEFORE the lesson.
Students are strongly encouraged to email, call or text the teacher during the week if there is anything they do not understand about their lesson assignment. She will gladly answer any question or try to resolve any problem before the next lesson time.
The rate of progress is directly correlated with preparation time for lessons. An average of 30 minutes practice a day, 6 days per week is ideal. However, parents should remember that goal achievement is more important than the number of minutes practiced each day. Reaching each week’s specific goal is more important than “watching the clock”. Please remember that a little bit everyday has more benefit than a long time on one day
Tuition and Payment Policy
Tuition for regular lessons is due at the end of each lesson. Either cash or check is accepted; as is payment through Venmo, the Cash App, or PayPal. You may also pay for the month in advance, if you prefer.
The current rate is $30.00 for a 30 minute lesson, $50.00 for 60 minutes at one location.
Lessons Missed
The time scheduled for each student’s lesson is reserved for his or her exclusive use. Payment is expected the following week for a lesson missed, unless a minimum of 24 hour advance notice is given. An exception may be made for a lesson missed due to an illness contacted on the day of the lesson or in other extreme circumstances. Lessons missed may be made up per the teacher’s schedule.
Suggested Activities and Events
In addition to lessons, it is highly recommended that the student attend other musical activities throughout the year. These include, but are not exclusive to:
Live Piano/Vocal Recitals and Concerts
Other Live Musical Recitals and Concerts
Broadcast Musical Performances
Sheet Music
The study of music will involve addition expenditures on occasion. Printed sheet music is not inexpensive but necessary. It is the student’s responsibility to provide a method book for the appropriate level of study. The dedication and amount of preparation time will determine how often this expense occurs.
The specific method books used are at the discretion of the student and their family. The teacher recommends choosing a book that is appealing to the student, for this is most likely to encourage practicing and enthusiasm.
For a list of Suggested Books, please see the Student Page.
